Following the release of Transit, his second LP for Constellation, Saint-Hyacinthe musician and producer William Jourdain (aka Automatisme) is thrilled to share four new tracks that build upon his refined, innovative electronic style. This series of recordings, which he has collected under the title Transit 2, is available alongside the original Transit LP on Bandcamp and includes impeccably crafted new versions of previous Automatisme tracks. Using both original and new source material, Jourdain has reshaped these pieces into powerful additions to his expansive electronic oeuvre.
For Transit 2, Jourdain relies on a new series of tools and tactics. The reworked versions of “Bateau” and “Bureau 4” are processed through his custom Eurorack system and heightened by additional source material, while “Transit 2 (Version 2)” is a compact, intense reinterpretation of the original track. The fourth new track is an Automatisme remix of Montréal artist Philippe Vandal’s piece “Blighted Apparatus,” which finds Jourdain layering synth plucks and kick drums over a background of Shepard tones in patterns based on the song’s initial partitions and trigger probabilities.
These new tracks solidify Jourdain’s place at the forefront of modern electronics, and Constellation is excited to share these new tracks as an expanded addition to his latest LP. Hear all four pieces via Automatisme’s Bandcamp page:

CST135    180gLP / DL    Out 24 August 2018

Québec artist and producer Automatisme is celebrating the release of Transit, his second LP for Constellation. Building upon the techniques he utilized for the 2016 album Momentform Accumulations, Transit refines his dedication to sonic exploration and his ability to craft rich, immersive landscapes out of field recordings and sprawling, abstracted electronics. Boomkat calls it a “staggering slab of dubbed-out ambient techno futurism recalling everything from Pole to Second Woman, Vladislav Delay and Porter Ricks” and gives it their highest recommendation, which we couldn’t agree with more.
Constellation is thrilled to reissue this new album on gorgeous 180g vinyl, complete with deluxe artwork. Transit is now available for purchase in the CST webshop, on Bandcamp, and in quality independent record stores.

Praise for Transit:

“The monotonous beating of techno music meets with the droning background and the expressive sound design of Jourdain to create a sublime result, which gives rise to a blissful scenery…The interpretation of the field recordings through this impressive barrage of drones, glitch, noise and sound design make Transit feel like a work of sonic cubism. While the shapes and edges of the original structures are still present and the overall offering displays many qualities of electronic music, the result is one of true avant-garde expression. Jourdain performs an extravagant process of transformation, one that mutates and, to an extent, mutilates the qualities of the original recordings, in a most fascinating way.” – PopMatters
“His most muscular and visceral release since 2016’s Momentform Accumulations…Jourdain’s touch is deft and this shifting dynamic never sways too far in either direction. By far the best thing on this album is “Registrariat” sounding a bit like some stalactites having a rave inside a damp cave.” – Electronic Sound
