Montreal’s beloved instrumental quintet Esmerine will be taking the stage in a handful of European cities this May. It has been nearly three years since the band last crossed the pond for live performances; they’ve since been busy with various personal projects and focusing on unique events here in North America. Be sure to catch them as they lithely weave their way across choice material from Lost Voices, the Juno-winning Dalmak and La Lechuza.
Meanwhile, refresh your gaze with their 2016 video for ‘The Neighbourhood Rises’ from Lost Voices. Montreal’s Clyde Henry Productions created this video by individually filming the band members in performance and then projecting footage onto constructivist-inspired sculptures of the band. These “puppets” were then animated by hand to synch, frame for frame, with the live performances projected upon the sculptural forms.
