After a series of packed shows around the US and Australia to kick off 2018, Montréal instrumental rock iconoclasts Godspeed You! Black Emperor are excited to announce a handful of new North American dates happening this summer. Fans in Toronto and the northeastern US can catch the band’s powerful live show in August, following previously announced and extensive dates across Europe and central and western North America throughout the spring.

With the release of their latest and acclaimed Luciferian Towers in fall 2017, GY!BE have been bringing their torrential 8-piece band and their stack of 16mm film projectors to stages near and far. The band’s mesmerizing audio-visual live show – and the glorious new music from Luciferian Towers – will hit Europe in April (including appearances at Roadburn and Donau Festivals) and back to North American shores in May and June.

All dates below. Tickets for the newly announced August shows go on sale Friday April 6th at 10:00am EST.

ACCLAIM FOR LUCIFERIAN TOWERS

“No one working in this genre does [it] better. Godspeed’s music is undergirded by its musicians’ radical leftist politics and that means there’s hope rather than despair at its heart—a belief that collective struggle against our overlords is a battle worth fighting instead of a foregone conclusion to surrender to. It’s this spirit that animates Luciferian Towers, their impeccably composed, most melodic and powerfully positive-sounding album to date.”
Pitchfork

“Godspeed has taken measured steps closer to beauty. It’s not a record of mourning, as much of the collective’s music has been described. Instead, it feels more like a call to action and creation. The world is ruined — but all of us are still here. It’s not a revolutionary message for Godspeed, which has been delivering variations of this for almost 20 years. But it still sounds like a revolution.”
LA Times

“Stands as one of the best albums of the year. ‘Bosses Hang’ is the best thing Godspeed has written in years. Every note speaks for itself. The band’s sonic apocalypticism has overtones of hope. Luciferian Towers is excellent.”
Pretty Much Amazing (A-)
