THEE SILVER MT. ZION MEMORIAL ORCHESTRA
OFFICIAL VIDEO - "I BUILT MYSELF A METAL BIRD"

The first-ever official video from Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra premiered on Stereogum in USA, The Quietus (along with a feature interview with band leader Efrim Menuck) in the UK, and Les Inrockuptibles in France.

We’ve put it up on our brand new Vimeo channel – not that our bands have been prolific makers of videos, but there have been a few made this past year, now conveniently being gathered in one place.

The video was shot in the band’s rehearsal space at the ‘old’ Hotel2Tango (the original location bearing that name, though the recording studio proper has since relocated down the street) and features a live 8-track analog audio recording of the song. A free MP3 download of the audio (different from the album track, just to be clear) is available here.

The video was directed by Seth W. Owen, a long-time friend of the band’s a one of the founders of Automatic Vaudeville. Aided and abetted by Iam MacMillan as Director of Photography. Audio recorded by Howard Bilerman (who can be seen in the video, monitoring the reel-to-reel).

TINDERSTICKS "BLACK SMOKE" VIDEO
(AND SOME EXCELLENT ALBUM REVIEWS)

Here is the brand new video for “Black Smoke” by the UK-based directorial team of Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (www.iainandjane.com).

Also check out:

www.fallingdownamountain.com

The whole album is streaming there, and we also have special album sales offers set up in conjucntion with Topspin Media: get a digital download with your physical CD or LP purchase, or buy the digital album for a good price in MP3 or FLAC+MP3 format. Also good deals to be had on bundling the new album with the band’s previous release The Hungry Saw. Sorry, these offers available in North America only as 4AD has the album rights elsewhere.

Meanwhile some lovely reviews of the record coming in from the UK (where the official release date was January 25th):

“Tindersticks remain at the top of their game and, better still, they seem to want to play.” Record Collector (4/5)
“Stunning….exquisite….gorgeous.” MOJO (4/5)
“A band on top form.” The Sunday Times (4/5)
“always feels as if it’s climbing, carrying you with it…what Tindersticks sound like on this subtly strong album is a band with restored self-belief, again loving doing what they do better than anyone else.” Uncut (4/5)
“Rare evidence that reformed bands can make records that matter.” The Word
“Another truly great Tindersticks record to add to your collection.” Clash
“Evident proof that Stuart Staples’ creative palette is as vibrant and uncompromising as it ever has been, and for that alone we’re sincerely and eternally grateful.” Drowned In Sound
“The well never seems to run dry.” Rock Sound
