Rebecca Foon Shares New Track “Ocean Song”

The Saltland/Esmerine composer explores new musical territory with the piano and vocal-focused "Ocean Song". Foon has also announced she'll be opening for Leif Vollebekk on eight North American tour dates in November/December.

Rebecca Foon, the composer and musician behind Saltland (not to mention a co-founder of Esmerine, a former member of Thee Silver Mt. Zion Memorial Orchestra, and the driving force behind Pathway To Paris), has shared a new track entitled “Ocean Song”. While Foon is best known as an incomparable cellist, this piece showcases her intimate singing voice, interlaced with a lovely and simple piano motif into a hauntingly beautiful sonic cocoon. Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Perry and Patrick Watson bassist Mishka Stein add judicious low end. There’s a whole new body of work from Foon that we’ll be eagerly looking forward too.

Rebecca has also revealed she’ll be jumping on tour with fellow Montréal-based songwriter Leif Vollebekk in a few weeks. Foon will play an opening set at eight of his upcoming North American dates starting Nov 29th, performing several new songs for the first time – and word is she’ll be joining Vollebekks’s band on cello for a few of his tunes as well. This ought to be rather magical. All dates below.
