“Breathing Black Ground (Orchestral Version)” is one of three new songs released by Sarah Neufeld this week as part of her Black Ground EP.

The EP is streaming on her website and the three songs are also part of an expanded Hero Brother Bonus Edition now available digitally on iTunes and Boomkat. Sarah also has some words of introduction for the EP and is premiering a short docu-film made by her friend Jason Last that captures her recent Prague recording session and the Berlin sessions for Hero Brother from last winter.

Our comrade Brad Todd, artist and conceptualist extraordinaire, created the austere and unconventionally apocalyptic diptych video for the EP’s title track, which features Neufeld on lead violin, with the FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague playing an arrangement by Owen Pallett of the song that originally appears on Sarah’s acclaimed Hero Brother album. “Breathing Black Ground (Orchestral Version)” was mixed by the one and only Tim Hecker.

Now is a great time to discover Hero Brother as a digital album, as the newly released Bonus Edition includes the additional three songs from the Black Ground EP and is on sale at iTunes for $9.99. The original version of Hero Brother is also specially-priced at iTunes for $7.99. For DRM-free 320kbps or FLAC options, Neufeld has also partnered with the awesome UK indie webshop Boomkat:

HERO BROTHER (BONUS EDITION) on Boomkat
HERO BROTHER (ORIGINAL) on Boomkat
HERO BROTHER (BONUS EDITION) on iTunes
HERO BROTHER (ORIGINAL) on iTunes

And of course the original Hero Brother is available on Deluxe 180gLP , CD and digital formats right here on the Constellation site.
